A few fun facts about me..

I’m an artist, and also an accountant! and I love to learn about science and nutrition and pretty much anything that I find myself curious about…but despite being a teensy bit of a geek, I’m actually very sociable, and I love spontaneous adventures with good company…even more so if they also involve a cheeky cocktail, glass of bubbly or vino 😉

I’m a bit of an international blend, born in South Africa to my German mom, and Irish Dad. We moved to Europe when I was ten and lived in Germany, Switzerland, Scotland, Ireland, and England. My favorite of all being a treasure of a place on the seaside in Cornwall (UK), called Newquay, where I lived for over a decade and will always consider my adopted hometown.

I now live in Virginia, USA on the other side of the Atlantic, with my son and my hubby and his lovely family out in the countryside.

Along the way I’ve had many adventures, but none quite compare to the amazing adventure of motherhood. What they don’t tell you about becoming a mom is that it requires super powers you never knew you had…it takes a while to realize you have them, but trust me, they are there. The first year will be an incredible marathon, one that you can’t really train for as it goes, no matter how hardcore you thought you were surviving on minimal amounts of sleep back when you were a fun loving party animal…but…it gets easier…and once you get through that crazy, emotional rollercoaster of uncertainty and start to adapt to this new world, it will start to feel like home, and it’s a beautiful place to be. And you’ll realize you are capable of so much more than you ever imagined. I wish I had become a mom sooner, I had no idea what I was missing and how much more I would learn to achieve in the same 24hours a day I used to take for granted.
This being said it won’t be without constant new challenges…you’ll be pushed to your limits and learn things you previously couldn’t fathom…but let’s just take it one day at a time. I hope I can provide some helpful advice and tips from what I’ve gathered over countless hours of research on various topics that have come up  along this incredible journey of motherhood.
